Guardian of the Forest

Deep within Ilex Forest there is a shrine. No one knows how long the shrine has been there. Some think that it's been there as long as the forest itself. Sadly this can not be proven for the only being able to either confirm or deny this isn't human. The shrine in Ilex Forest is a place for travelers to pay their respects to the Guardian of the Forest, Celebi. Little is actually know about this mysterious pokémon. In fact there is less know about Celebi than most other Johto Legendaries. However just because there is little to actually be found about this pokémon doesn't mean that we know nothing. In fact the things we do know about Celebi have all been proven.

Celebi is most spotted in Ilex Forest by the shrine that was made for offerings. It is because of these rare sightings that we even know what Celebi looks like. Well, that and a few pictures and carvings from times past. Celebi is small and green. Its feet are round and toeless and its hands only have three fingers. A pair of fairy like wings sprout from its back and small blue tipped antenna adorn the top of its head. It's eyes are baby blue with black rings surrounding them. While this is the standard appearance given to Celebi there have been reports, few and far between, that lay claim to Celebi that are a pinkish color rather than green. It isn't known if this is a shiny for or if Celebi change color with age. Either possibility seems just as likely as the other.

One of the most well known abilities of Celebi is its ability to time travel. This of course brings up an entirely new question about the Celebi species. How many are there? I've heard many claim that there is but one Celebi in existence at a time. While others claim that there is a Celebi for every large forest in the world. It seems entirely possible that both claims are true. A kind woman once told me that she saw a whole group of Celebi once. She was unable to recall exactly how many there were but she was quite certain that it was more than twenty! The large gathering seemed to be caused by a dieing fellow. It is unclear however if the Celebi were Celebi from various times or from various forests coming to help this one guardian. There have also been rumors about Celebi's portals being able to grant the ability to see into the future. Though that is a subject for another time.

The talk about the dieing Celebi brought forth another of Celebi's powers. Celebi are well known to have a powerful healing ability. This power however only seems to work on plants. Celebi have been known to be able to heal entire forests with ease. It is the mixture of this power and the power of time travel that allow them to protect their homes. Being able to get to any disaster at any point in time is vital to keeping the forests they protect alive. This healing ability also seems to expand to others of their species. For it was the combined effort of a large group of Celebi that saved their Celebi fellow from death. It is unknown however if this ability would spread to other plant like pokémon. It is however a topic I hope to one day study.

Celebi are well know for being shy and gentle creatures with a playful streak. So if there is one around it isn't very likely to show itself. In fact the only way to guarantee a Celebi sighting is to attack the forest or the pokémon that live there. Though you may not like what you get if you do that. While shy and gentle Celebi will defend their homes with all their might. They attack with powerful grass and psychic type moves that are sure to leave the enemy hurting when the battle is over. Celebi are very protective of their homes. In fact it may be this protectiveness mixed with its psychic abilities that gave Celebi the power to time travel. Or perhaps that is simply the way Arceus made the small forest guardian. I suppose that that is something we shall never know.

Celebi like all Legendaries are fascinating little creatures. I do in fact hope to one day meet one myself but until then I shall do my best to do them justice in this and any other report I may or may not write about them.
